No. There is no timer in STOVE TOP mode.
NO. Rice can be cooked with the Stove Top function, but not using the Grains Auto-iQ function.
The Ninja Multi-Cooker should never be used for deep frying. It can be used for searing and sauteing.
It is perfectly safe to leave the Ninja plugged in ONLY when using SLOW COOK, BAKE, WARM, or Auto-iQ Meals or Grains settings. When using the other settings, you must be present, like when using a stove.
No, it is not recommended to store food in the cooking pot in the freezer.
YES. The pot can go straight from the fridge to the multi-cooker without cracking.
YES! The STOVE TOP function is perfect for reheating. Simply place your food in the unit and set STOVE TOP HIGH to warm the unit. Adjust appropriately as you would on your stovetop at home. Do not use the STAY WARM function to reheat food.
If you would like to substitute foods, we recommend a few different options. Please refer to your cookbook for those reccomended substitutions. Please keep in mind if you use other substitutes this may effect the end result of your iQ meal.
It is not advisable to take the lid off during any iQ settings. If you do remove the lid it may compromise the end result of your Auto-iQ recipe. Please make sure if you do remove the lid that you check to make sure that your food is cooked all the way through before serving.
It is not advisable to take the lid off during the first 2 hours of cooking, as it can result in significant heat loss and will require additional cooking time. Should you need to lift the lid to stir, do so quickly and be sure to check food for tenderness and doneness at the end, adding on additional cooking time as necessary.
NO. It is recommended that you do not use the pot on a stovetop or in the oven to preserve the nonstick coating of the pot.
Yes. As with any heating appliance, it is always good to be safe. We recommend using oven mitts when handling the unit. The control panel will remain comfortable to touch without the use of mitts.
Although a mitt is not required to remove the lid, the contents of your cooking pot and the steam from inside of your pot will be hot. You may want to wear a mitt if you are more comfortable removing the lid that way.

Simply unplug the unit from the wall outlet and allow it to cool. NEVER immerse the main housing unit in water or any other liquid. To clean the main housing unit and control panel, wipe with a damp cloth.
Auto-iQ features pre-programmed recipes that are tied back to the cookbook that is included with your unit. Simply gather your ingredients for the recipe that you would like to make, place your ingredients in the pot (or as instructed to do in the cookbook), set the corresponding Auto-iQ number and press START. You will see a count-down timer in the right hand screen for quick meals and layered bowls. For grains and pouched infusions you will see an "ON" notification on the right-hand display. Please refer to the exact instructions in your cookbook for further detail.
Pour liquid into the cooking pot, then cover with lid. Select the STEAM button, then turn the knob to select the time. The clock will flash the letter "P" for Preheat with the set time. Once the preheat cycle is complete, you will hear a beep and the clock will start counting down. Add ingredients as directed in the recipe. When clock has completed the cooking cycle, the multi-cooker will beep to indicate that food needs to be removed.
The default time for SLOW COOK HIGH is 4:00 (4 hours). For SLOW COOK LOW, the default time is 8:00 (8 hours) and for WARM, it is 6:00 (6 hours.) The maximum SLOW COOK time you can set is 12:00 (12 hours). Once the cook time is complete the unit will switch to STAY WARM mode for 12 hours. In BAKE mode, the maximum time is 6:00 (6 hours). After baking is complete, unit will switch to STAY WARM mode for 12 hours. In STOVE TOP mode, there is no timer. STOVE TOP will automatically shut off after 1 hour on HIGH and after 4 hours on LOW. In STEAM mode, the time is set manually. Once steaming is complete, the unit will switch to STAY WARM mode for 12 hours. Please refer to your cookbook for Auto-IQ timed programs.
The pot can cook a chicken that weighs up to 6 pounds, or a roast that weighs up to 4 pounds. Pleae do not fill the pot more than two-thirds full with a liquid.
BAKE, STEAM, and SLOW COOK modes allow the time to be adjusted. STOVE TOP does not let you adjust the cooking time. In Auto-iQ mode, cooking time is pre-set to produce the best degrees.
In your Ninja Cooking System, no preheating is required for the manual cooking functions (SLOW COOK, STOVE TOP, BAKE, and STEAM.) However, if you are using the STOVE TOP function, results will be better if you let it come up to temperature.
No. The cooking pot cannot be used in a microwave oven.
These are two-step recipes. Use the Stove Top function to sear proteins before adding in other ingredients to cook. Through this process, you are building layers of flavor.
Cook grains such as oatmeal and quinoa to the perfect consistency at the touch of a button.
Quick Meals are meals that are ready in 30 minutes or less.
Poaching is a cooking method of submerging a food in warm water, stock or other liquids to cook the food and keep moisture locked in.
The DRY BAKE function is best used with beef, pork, fish, and poultry. Steam roasting is done by adding liquid to the bottom of the cooking pot and using the DRY BAKE setting. No need to pre-heat.
The STEAM BAKE function is best used when baking cakes, cupcakes, loaves, puddings, custards, and cheesecakes. Steam Baking is done by adding water to the bottom of the cooking pot and cooking on the STEAM BAKE setting. The steam created by the water helps your desserts cook more evenly, retain more moisture, and give a higher rise.
The CS960 is a step up from the previous multi-cooker because of the pre-programmed Auto-iQ recipes as well as the new Accutemp technology preventing food from boiling over in Slow Cook mode.
The cooking pot, steaming/roasting rack, and glass lid are all dishwasher safe. The Multi-Purpose Pan (only CS960A) is not dishwasher safe.
Like a conventional oven, DRY BAKE mode doesn't use steam. Please keep in mind that foods will not brown or crisp on the top the same as a conventional oven, instead foods will crisp and brown on the bottom and sides.
Slow cooking allows you to cook at a low temperature, over a long period of time. This leaves meat tender and juicy (even the less expensive cuts) while other ingredients become moist and infused with a deep, rich flavor. Slow cooking also offers the ultimate in ease and convenience, as you cook everything in a single pot that doesn't require constant supervision. The Ninja Cooking System with Auto-IQ has three different ACCUTEMP SLOW COOK settings: HIGH, LOW, and WARM, giving you the flexibility to adjust cooking times to fit your schedule. The HIGH setting cooks approximately twice as fast as the LOW setting. Use LOW for all-day "set it and forget it" cooking. Use HIGH for half-day or shorter periods of time. Once the cooking cycle is complete, the unit will automatically switch to STAY WARM, which will run for 12 hours.
Steam-infused baking uses bottom and side-band heating, turning your multi-cooker into a mini-oven with a temperature range of 250 to 425 degrees, so you can STEAM BAKE cakes and other moist, delicious desserts. Please keep in mind that foods will not brown or crisp on the top the same as a conventional oven, instead foods will crisp and brown on the bottom and sides.

Triple Fusion Heat provides three different heat forms in our multi-cooker. Bottom heat locks in flavor from the start, while side heat distributes evenly for consistent cooking. Finally, steam heat keeps ingredients juicy so your meals never dry out.

The Ninja Cooking System with Auto-iQ is four appliances built into one. You can sear with the STOVE TOP function, then SLOW COOK, all in the same pot. Keep in all the delicious flavors of your ingredients, reduce sauces after slow cooking, and even reheat food: true one-pot cooking with more flavor and less mess. Between the Manual and Auto-iQ functions, there's a huge array of delicious, one-pot meals at your fingertips.
Yes. Be sure to use protective oven mitts when handling during the cooking process.
Wash the cooking pot, steaming/roasting rack, and glass lid with warm, soapy water. The cooking pot, steaming/roasting rack, and glass lid are also all dishwasher safe. If food residue is stuck on the cooking pot, fill the pot with water and allow to soak before cleaning. DO NOT use scouring pads. If scouring is necessary, use a nonabrasive cleanser or liquid detergent with a nylon pad or brush. The multi-purpose pan (ONLY CS960A CONFIGURATION) is not dishwasher safe.
As with any nonstick surface, use scratch-resistant, non-metal utensils on the surface of the pot.
